Better Environmentally Sound Transportation (BEST)
To promote sustainable transportation options and improve access to mobility for all community members through advocacy, education, and innovative programs
Established in 1991, BEST is a Vancouver-based charity focused on encouraging walking, cycling, public transit, and other sustainable transportation modes. Notable initiatives include “The Bicycle Valet,” providing free bike parking at events; “Our Community Bikes,” a do-it-yourself bike shop offering repair services and youth programs; and “Seniors Transportation Access and Resources (STAR),” which enhances transportation options for older adults. BEST also played a pivotal role in developing the Central Valley Greenway, a 24km pedestrian and cyclist route connecting Vancouver to New Westminster.
