Local Gardens Growing Global Goals: A Story Map
A toolkit for educators to showcase how gardens and green spaces can build capacity at local levels to advance sustainability, respond to the urgency of climate change and align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The oldest university botanical garden in Canada offers a delightful showcase of BC’s native flowers and trees. Established in 1916, the UBC Botanical Garden features a variety of specialty plantings, including alpine, rainforest and medicinal gardens.
Over the last five years, the Sustainable Communities Field School team has worked on designing and delivering outstanding educational team building experiences. Our goal is to support individuals and groups in feeling connected to land, nature and each other. With this toolkit you will lear and explore key principles and values that can support and inform hopeful climate change communication and learning experiences in gardens, a virtual tour of UBC Botanical Garden that showcases how a global policy framework such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals can be weaved into group tours, and tips and tricks for engaging diverse audiences in sustainability education.
