Project Summary
Founded in 2008, Sole Food Street Farms transforms vacant urban land into productive farms, offering jobs and training to individuals facing barriers to employment. Operating multiple sites across Vancouver, including the largest urban orchard in North America, the initiative supplies fresh produce to local restaurants and markets, while donating a portion to neighbourhood agencies. The farms utilize portable planters to address soil contamination and land-use challenges, demonstrating a scalable model for urban agriculture.
