Project Summary

The Urban Tree Canopy festival is a program that gives homeowners free trees, plants and shrubs. This enhances the city’s greenery and helps take action against climate change, increasing biodiversity and wildlife habitat. If you own or rent a home in the district this program is available in, you can apply to receive up to 4 trees and shrubs for free, based on what type of space you have you will get guidance on what type is plant is right for you! Furthermore, instructions and help on how to take care of your plants can also be provided. This program has numerous environmental benefits, like reducing the urban heat island effect, capturing and storing carbon, absorbing rain, reducing runoff into streams and the sewer system. Filtering air pollutants and so much more, hence if interested, please visit their website!
